Business model of the CRL NFO

Each partner in the consortium agreement is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment it owns and for replacing these instruments when they become obsolete.

The financing of the instruments belonging to the Greek laboratories and their operation is done through the national funding for research infrastructures.

The financing of the instruments belonging to laboratories from the other European countries is done through contributions from the scientific projects that use the data of the NFO.

All projects using data from the NFO are invited to make a contribution which is discussed and agreed in advance between the project leaders and the observatory.

The average annual cost of maintenance of the network (including repair of breakdowns, accidental destruction such as lightning strikes, maintenance of shelters, power supplies, telemetry) is approximately 1500 € per year per station.
